November 23, 2020

On 15th of October at Ala-Too International University at Computer Science Department there was held a round table with stakeholders.

During the round table representatives of IT companies, schools and engineering companies were invited to the round table to discuss the problems and prospects of the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics. The questions ranged from simple to professional. Together with representatives of the faculty, we prepared a series of questions on competencies and projects.

The faculty was represented by representatives of the faculty: the dean, heads of the departments of Computer Science, Electronics and Nanoelectronics, Applied Mathematics and informatics and a number of lecturers.

One of the topics was the discussion of problems and prospects for the development of educational programs in the field of informatics and computer technology. Some believed that it was better to integrate teaching into business, while others suggested combining computer science with marketing.

The participants of the round table also discussed the prospects of the Master's program "Data Science", the first enrollment in which was carried out this year.

The need was expressed for the introduction of courses on ethics and critical thinking into the curriculum, as well as the introduction of new disciplines related to this issue.

During the discussion, the need for students to gain experience in working on projects and teaching their product cycles was voiced. For students as future specialists and project managers, extracurricular projects should be considered through the prism of their functional responsibilities and projects should be considered within the framework of group product projects.
